One year ago I launched our Living Legacy End of Life Planning Service... or more better termed... helping you get your affairs in order to make space for your life yet to live and planning for the ‘what ifs’ that may come along the way.
8 years ago, 27th August 2016, I had an accident that could have had fatal consequences. I have lived to tell the tale and am determined to help others, given that a 'what if' already happened to me. Read on here
I had an interesting meeting today with a business advisor. We were speaking of the importance of being clear on the 'why' we do things - for life, for business, for daily choices. While I definitely agree, in our recent annual Advanced Planning Survey one of the interesting insights was the reasons people have their 'why nots' in preparing their wishes and putting their plans in place.
53% of respondents have had a bereavement in the previous 5 years, 29% would have liked to know their loved ones end of life care presences, 26% to know their funeral wishes, 23% their online account information, 24% their belongings and what do with them. Yet 42% of the 75 people who took part in our survey haven't yet started working on putting their own end of life plans in place. We may have opinions on what others should do but we first must start with ourselves.
So why not start?
Over the past 12 months I have learned so much about the process of getting my plans in place, even after I got my own updated. Yet I'm now ready to review and update again. I like to think this will be a yearly occurrence as our lives change sometimes without us fully appreciating the changes, so a good idea to schedule an annual review. Our plans are always evolving, whether it be for goals, or indeed for our final wishes, that there is no definitive until the end. Through test and reflect, we will figure out what we really want. It won't be perfect the first time, but by getting started and taking those first steps and drafting our plans you will be able to reflect, update, and refine to a closer version of your vision, to help you clarify the why your life has been and why you still want to achieve all the things you dream.

My 'why' in creating Living Legacy is so others don't get caught out with a 'what if', but also to encourage more people to really appreciate the value of living life fully rather than getting stuck in avoidance or doubt.
I would love to learn your why, and when you're ready, to help you navigate the journey to getting your first draft review of your life and your plans in place.
