New Moon, New Focus: Clearing the Path Ahead
Today brings the first new moon of 2026, quietly setting the tone for what’s ahead. In the coming weeks, the New Lunar Year, Chinese New Year, Ramadan, and Lent will all begin within the same 24 hours — a rare and powerful alignment. Add to that a year with 13 full moons, and it’s clear: 2026 invites intention and depth.
This Capricorn New Moon encourages us to lay strong foundations, focus on what truly matters, and move steadily toward the life we want to build. A perfect moment for thoughtful, forward planning.
Last month, we reflected on the liminal space between the old and the new. Now, as we edge forward, the real work lies in letting go — of what no longer serves us, of old roles or expectations, and of the weight we’ve been carrying. Many people I speak with feel January isn’t for goal-setting. In the Northern Hemisphere it’s dark, cold, and calls for a gentler pace: a time to clear, not push.
Before the new lunar year begins, this month offers a beautiful opportunity to pause, assess what truly adds value, and release what doesn’t.
So before the year fully gathers momentum, what are you ready to clear?
Creating Focus - Don’t Zig Zag
In 2024, during my Living Legacy Conversations podcast, I spoke with Sarah Reynolds of Organised Chaos. Recently, she shared a simple but powerful reminder: physical space creates mental space. Her advice for decluttering is refreshingly practical — focus on one room at a time and don’t zig zag.
Instead, use three boxes:
-
One for items to gift, donate, or return
-
One for items to let go of
-
One for items that belong elsewhere
Only once the room is complete do you move the boxes on. I tried this myself and found it keeps focus and momentum. If you’d like more, I highly recommend Sarah’s book, Organised, and our conversation together.
Why Letting Go Matters
Over recent years, I’ve learned that letting go isn’t about loss — it’s about clarity. When we release the ‘shoulds’, old resentments, or unspoken frustrations, we often uncover deeper truths: our triggers, habits, and unmet needs.
One core need connects us all — safety. Safety in our homes, relationships, environments, and sense of self. When we feel safe, we’re better able to honour our values, express our needs, and plan with confidence. Advance planning plays a vital role here — it brings clarity for you and reassurance for those who care about you.
So ask yourself:
- What do I need?
- What kind of life do I want to create?
- What emotional or physical clutter am I ready to release?
New Moon, New Focus
At the start of this year, I launched the Legacy Guides — weekly prompts designed to help you take small, meaningful steps toward having your plans in place. For €10 per month (or €97 for the year), you’ll receive a short guide each week, including checklists, reflections, and practical actions covering digital, medical, and security considerations.
Each guide offers a gentle call to action — not a leap, but steady progress. Small steps that build momentum and peace of mind. Sign up here
If you’d prefer something more focused in a shorter timeframe, you can also join the waiting list for our upcoming Legacy Programme.
Preparing for the New Season – Imbolc
Here in Ireland, spring begins on February 1st with Imbolc and the feast of Brigid. Traditionally, this is a time to clear the land in preparation for new seeds — for health, abundance, and growth.
My next newsletter will arrive on February 1st, aligning with the full moon and Brigid’s Day, where I’ll share more about this seasonal shift and how you can begin sowing new seeds for your goals and advance planning.
Until then, I wish you a focused and gentle couple of weeks as you prepare.
From February onward, the newsletter will arrive on each full moon.
You’re always welcome to explore how Living Legacy can support you at
